In 1993 a young soccer enthusiast by the name of Jason Kyle approached a Recreation Programmer at Britannia Centre with the idea of offering a fun, recreational spring soccer league to the children of the community. In “Britannia Micro Soccer’s” first year, 30 children registered.
Over the 17 years since its inception, the soccer program has expanded immensely. In the spring of 2009, over 750 children and youth of the Britannia Community registered in the program. Over 100 coaches volunteer their time and soccer expertise to the kids of the community. More experienced soccer youth referee in this grassroots program. Most staff are graduates of the program. |

The mission of the Britannia Micro Footie Spring Soccer program is to provide a safe and fun soccer program that helps to develop children’s knowledge, skills and attitudes toward positive involvement in soccer and sport, in general. The overall goal of the Britannia Micro Footie Program is to create a formal and accessible physical activity and sport for the all children and youth of the community to participate in. |
